News Bits & Propaganda…

My subscribers may wonder at this site’s recent failure to post timely notices, along with a slow-down of articles.  For some reason—gremlins in the machine?—the notification plug-in stopped working about January 20th.

Pathetic Propaganda...

That has now been corrected, I hope…  Perhaps the gov’t mistook my site for WikiLeaks…whatever.  In any event, I’ve taken this opportunity to do some work on two book projects, and have found myself quite absorbed in that.

Meantime, allow me to comment on a few news items that have crossed my desk…

The President’s speechwent well—the man can speak.  He did manage to muster enough gusto to condemn “a parade of lobbyists” for much of the inability of gov’t to solve the current socio-economic crisis (one created by massive corporate criminality in the first place).

You might have also noticed that he just installed another corporate crew in the White House, including appointing as his new Chief of Staff one of the central cutthroats from JPMorgan Chase, William Daley.

Maybe he’s just following LBJ’s dictum: “Better to have the son-of-a-bitch inside the tent pissing out than outside pissing in.”  No doubt there were plenty of raucus laughs and winks in America’s corporate boardrooms and parlours over this “lobbyist” line.  Hell, gotta give the masses a few crumbs…

One good piece of news from inside the Administration is that on January the 14th they quietly dropped the prohibition against student travel and study in Cuba.  You can bet the gusano-crowd in Miami are going to be pretty pissed off.  They’re still day-dreaming of getting back their illicit properties.

Another piece of news comes from a group of prominent rabbis who’ve placed a $100,000 full-page ad in Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal.  (I believe it was Marx who once said that the capitalists are so greedy, they’ll even sell you the shovels with which to bury them.)

They called upon Murdoch to sanction Fox News chief Roger Ailes along with one of his favorite butt-boys, Glenn Beck, for playing loose and fancy with Nazi and Holocaust talk.

The latest smear from Murdoch’s Der Steurmer, was calling $billionaire philanthropist George Soros a Nazi collaborator.  Soros was, in fact, a young teen in Nazi-occupied Hungary who survived by “hiding” with a sympathetic Christian family.

Fox’s answer?  True to his character (sic), Ailes denounced the ad group as a pack of “left-wing rabbis.”  Actually, the group represents all elements of Judaism, from Reform to Orthodox.  Unlike Fox’s “Fair & Balanced” propaganda, read the ad for yourself.

Meantime, while high crime and propaganda graces most of the media and corporate/political power centers, other low-life persecutors are busy criminalizing some real dangerous persons.

Take Ms. Kelley Williams-Bolar, an Akron, Ohio, single mother and near-graduate to a teaching certificate.  Given the crime in the Projects where she lives, she sent her two young girls to a mostly white school nearby where her father lives—using his home address.

The County Prosecutor charged her with grand theft and falsifying records, a felony.  Even the judge found the charges grossly out of proportion to the “crime.”  The prosecutor refused to entertain any lesser plea.

Grand theft?  Falsifying records?  These are crimes?  Not if she worked on Wall Street, or lived on the Long Island Gold Coast of Glen Cove or the Huntington Bay Hills…
