It’s been axiomatic since 1964 that the only way Democrats have won a national election is by burying the Republican vote thru a massive turnout. Even winning the popular vote is not enough, as Al Gore with some 500,000 votes over Bush found out in 2000.
The Bush-Cheney Gang blatantly stole that Florida election and thus the White House. In 2004, they did the same with Ohio and Florida again. Given that this November will most likely be a close election, I predict that Romney & Company will be able to steal whatever they need. more…

The Jerusalem Post reported in May that more than 24,000 people in 22 nations were polled by the BBC regarding Israel. Citizens in 17 of those nations hold mostly negative views of Israel, including Egypt 85%, Spain 74%, France 65%, and Britain 68%. Here in the US the number is 35% and growing. more…

As we approached Detroit at 5,000 feet, I could see a dozen columns of black smoke climbing into the still July air. Hitting an inversion layer, the smoke spread out forming a great vaulted ceiling over the city.
It was all quite surreal. I was conscious of Lenin’s return to revolutionary Russia in a sealed train. No ego-mania, just a sign of how seriously we took our politics back then.
Early that Sunday morn, July 23rd, I got a call from a comrade in Detroit advising me to return immediately, “The revolution is on!” “Revolution” was a bit over the top, but it was most certainly one hell of a rebellion. more…

Somewhere along the line I missed the knowledge regarding the Doctrine of Discovery. Even catechism scrupulously ignores that history.
The Doctrine is a 1493 papal bull (proclamation) following Columbus’s “discovery” of the New World. Back then the line between emperor and pope was a lot fuzzier. more…
