Closing the Olympics…

Having posted an article last week featuring the Opening ceremonies of the London Olympics, I thought I’d do some commentary here on the Closing.

Closing Olympic Celebration…

The most descriptive I can declare is that it was certainly British. Cheeky humor and musical tributes are their hallmarks.

Opening with all sorts of dancing drummers, even some on wires, and newsprint over everything featured England’s history of great published works. A variety of acts sang and danced thru pop tunes of various times. more…

2012 Referendum: Vote!

For left cadre, this election is more than a choice between Obama and Romney, both of whom represent the corporatist elite.

On the field of political combat, there’s both a tactical difference as well as a referendum on the State of Mass Consciousness.

There’s not so many of us that we can ignore this question. more…

Pagans in the Promised Land…

Somewhere along the line I missed the knowledge regarding the Doctrine of Discovery. Even catechism scrupulously ignores that history.

The Doctrine is a 1493 papal bull (proclamation) following Columbus’s “discovery” of the New World. Back then the line between emperor and pope was a lot fuzzier. more…

Wall Street Mafia & Why You’re Busted…

In my first year in the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP; 1990-91) I lucked out. Thru a fellow prisoner who was leaving, I got his position as admin clerk at the Unicor factory.

Most federal prisons (118) average some 1200 souls and there’s only jobs for maybe 200 in the prison factory.  Most prisoners labor at 12¢/hr.  Unicor, pays 23¢/hr. up to $1.15. With premium pay you can even earn $1.45. All overtime and weekends are double-pay. more…

It Doesn’t Take a Weatherman…

The following article, a bit longer than usual, is purely my own theoretical construct. It may or may not bear any resemblance to your “reality.” I come from a gulag mentality after a total of some 25+yrs in jails and prisons across the planet; to me, they’re all simply a pack of criminals… more…

Corps, Gov’t, Police & Provos…

When was the last time you heard of a terrorist conspiracy case that did not include a police agent or a paid “confidential informant” (CI), and wasn’t the result of a “sting operation”?

The latest such FBI-police op in the news is that of the so-called Cleveland Six (which also conveniently targets that city’s Occupy movement). No doubt their intent. more…

A Good Beginning? A Chain of 100 Corporatists at the Bottom of the Ocean…

Here’s a few wild ideas that came to mind while I was waiting for the cell door to open over the past 20-plus years. Of course,

little did I realize that the free-world itself was becoming another level of minimum security.

After I got out, Detroit friends held a Welcome Home party for me. Perhaps I should have welcomed y’all to MY world… more…

Corporatists & Their Infantile Allies…

Ultra-right insanity works for the ruling elite because division, disruption and dissuasion is their game. For the ultra “left,” it’s a fool’s errand…or worse…

As I witness another go-around in the revolutionary struggle, I have this sinking feeling of Yogi’s inimitably stated, déjà vu, all over again. more…

Elections, Selections & Joe Mammy…

In November there will be a choice to vote for Obama and a continuing slide down the slippery slope toward corporatism, or a Republican and an accelerated slide down that same slope. Take your choice.

Naturally, they’ll be third party candidates, such as Jill Stein for the Green Party, and Rocky Anderson for the Justice Party.

Corporatist-Republicans will certainly encourage such third parties as that would nullify votes for Obama.

There’s every likelihood that the next president of the United States will be a Republican. (Naming which one is irrelevant. The party’s long been captured as CRABS—corporate racist bigots.) more…

IBM & Nazis: Business is their Middle Name…

While I was serving a 25-yr bit in federal prison, Peter Werbe, an editor friend of Detroit’s Fifth Estate, requested that I write a book review. He sent the book, One Man in His Time (2002), which was about the life of a former Waffen SS soldier, Hans Post.

The book documents Hans’s journey from family (his parents joined the Nazi Party in 1928 when he was 2-yrs-old), to the Hitler Youth, to his service (highly decorated), to various prisons, to mine work, union leadership, and left activism. It follows him when he his wife and daughters emigrate to Australia, where he continued his union work and activism.

IBM: "Arbeit Macht Frei"...

Today, Hans is 86-yrs-old and the godfather of the Australian peace movement. A remarkable and surprising journey from fascism to social consciousness.

Others have had a different journey. Many works have been published documenting the collaboration between Americans, business and the Nazis…before and during the war. more…
